4 Critical Steps to Avoid Scams When You Are Working With Expensive Products in eBay Dropshipping

Hello everybody yesterday we talked about 6 reasons why it’s so important to work with expensive items when you drop ship to eBay, but as I said in the previous article one of the problems when you work with expensive products is that it’s very dangerous and you can be scammed by other eBay buyers.

So in this article, we will talk about 4 steps that you need to do to avoid scams when you work with expensive products on eBay dropshipping business so this is why it’s important to work with expensive products on eBay.

  • It’s fewer fees per product.
  • it’s much higher profits.
  • Less customer support.
  • Less competition.
  • Lower PayPal fees compared to cheap products.
  • High percent cover product fees over a long period of time.

I will not go over the things here so you can just check the previous article and get all this information. so which types of scams can happen when you work with expensive products on eBay and why it can happen?

Stolen CC (Credit Card)

The first thing is stolen credit cards, let’s say that someone went and just stole a credit card from another person and then he just added this to his eBay account and then they just ordering a lot of products, a lot of expensive products from you, in this case, you can just identify it by this that the buyer has a very low number of feedbacks usually because they just stole a credit card and then they are adding them to their buyer accounts.

Account hacked (can happen with any number of feedbacks)

The second thing is hacked accounts, sometimes any account with any number of feedback. It doesn’t matter if this is a new account or an old buying account. Another person can hack an eBay account, and then this person can go and buy from you expensive products and have them shipped to their houses.

In this case, you can’t know if this is a scam or not a scam, and you can check the feedback to see that everything fine with this buyer. But this is still a scammer because he just hacked the account.

How can we handle both of these cases, and what are the steps that we must do to stay on the safe side when we work with expensive products on eBay?

How to avoid scams?

Number of feedbacks (should be at least 5)

Usually, if the buyer has less than five feedbacks, so this will be a scam. Check the number of feedbacks. If it’s less than 5 feedbacks, you need to communicate with the buyer and check that this a real person. To check that this is not a stolen credit card. Ask the buyer some questions, ask where is the address that he provided. Then compare the addresses of PayPal and eBay. This way, you will be on the safe side.

Wait one day before you ship the product (for ANY order over 400$, it gives time to the client to cancel)

The second step which I usually do when I work with expensive products is: NEVER ship expensive products immediately.
I know that it’s better on eBay to always send the products on time. But what I suggest is to block the auto ordering for products which are over $400. You should wait one day before you ship these products. Because in this day, the buyer can change his mind, or he can discover that his credit card got stolen, and he can see that his eBay account gets hacked. In this way, you giving the client one full day to cancel the order, and then you will be safe.

Ask the supplier for a signature on the package (For Packages over 750$ sell price – PayPal’s Policy)

One of the things in PayPal Policies is that for products over $750, if the person who received the package did not sign that he received the package, you will not be covered.

It is why for any order over 750$ of the sale price, you must ask the supplier to request a signature from the person who will receive the package.

So if I work with Amazon and the product costs me, for example, $450, which is around 750$ on eBay, I will ask Amazon to get a signature from the person who receives the package.

It is super important, and this way will get protected on PayPal. Without it, you will not have any seller protection from PayPal.

Check that the addresses on PayPal and eBay are the same.

The fourth thing, and I think this is one of the most important things here is to compare the addresses, the address of PayPal, and the address of eBay. If the buyer supplies you on eBay an address, still, on PayPal, you see something different. You must communicate with the buyer and asking what happened, why the two addresses are different. Tell him to cancel the order and create a new order with the same address as PayPal’s address. This way, you will be on the safe side.

Conclusion

So if you follow these 4 steps you can get huge profits when you work with expensive products on eBay. Still, you must be careful, you must follow all of these steps don’t run to place the order immediately just because you got an order and because it’s a huge profit, I know that when you have a huge profit you want to process the order immediately to keep the profit for you, but it’s better to keep it on the safe side and go over all these steps.
